The best way to describe Nelson Tasman is a 'lifestyle'. Situated at the top north-west of the South Island, it is the sunniest region in New Zealand.

Nelson city is bordered to the west and south-west by the Tasman District Council and the north-east, east and south-east by the Marlborough District Council. Nelson is well known for its thriving local arts and crafts scene.

Nelson Tasman's diverse geography captures everything from the long golden beaches to untouched forests and rugged mountains.

From a cultural point of view, the city is a chance to appreciate New Zealand art, both in galleries and in artists’ studios. The district has attracted creative people who work with glass, metal, stone, wood, clay, sand, paper, ink, paint and fabric.

Nelson is very appealing from a lifestyle point of view. There are wineries scattered around the Moutere Hills and the Waimea Plains. In the city, you’ll find a good selection of restaurants – some with huge views of Tasman Bay. You could try one of the many fabulous cycling trails including Tasman's Great Taste Trail and The Dun Mountain, or go on horse treks, sailing charters and to one of the many excellent beaches. Just a short drive to Motueka, the gateway to the famous Golden Bay and Abel Tasman National Park.

Marlborough is also one of New Zealand’s sunniest places, located at the top of the South Island. The region is home to the towns of Blenheim, Picton and Havelock along with many small settlements dotted around the area.

Marlborough is about diverse landscapes, from valleys of vines to the sheltered waterways of the Marlborough Sounds. Marlborough is New Zealand's largest grape growing and wine making region with 65 wineries, 290 grape growers and 4054 hectares in grape production. It's about award winning wines, the soils, enviable climate and people that create it. It’s about fresh seafood sought by the world’s finest chefs, including Greenshell Mussels, King Salmon, clams and oysters.

Before the wine industry came along, Marlborough's fame lay with its sounds--sunken valleys that are home to all kinds of wonderful bird and sea life, including terns, shags, blue penguins, dolphins and seals.

Blenheim is an attractive and peaceful town of parks and gardens. Although it has the low-key ambience of rural New Zealand, it has sophisticated cafes, restaurants and accommodation usually found in larger centres.
