In our roles it has always been all hands-on deck, when it needed to be done, whether that was making a bed, cleaning a toilet, or pouring a pint, our ethos was to get it done to ensure that the guest experience was the one that made then want to come back.
We have an absolute love for travelling and enjoying life and our 5 – 7-year plan is to continue working together as a management couple.
We spent 10 years working and travelling in Australia prior to coming back to New Zealand to meet our grandies, we believe that our time travelling gives us the ability to communicate with everyone and it is great to share experiences. We are both able to pass a police checks if required and are both fully vaccinated.

The role:
We are seeking a motivated couple (or individual), who have previous motel management experience to run our business and to take it to the next level. This is an open Contractor role with no end date.
There is a comfortable two-bedroom manager's apartment on site. Plus a carpark for the manager.
You will be responsible for the business on a 24/7 basis (between the two of you). With the aid of a part-time receptionist. Alternative arrangements will be made if the successful candidate is an individual living on site.
This will include overseeing day-to-day activities to ensure the smooth and profitable running of the business, managing reception, clients and bookings, and working closely with the housekeeping staff. The business has a great team of housekeepers, and a part-time receptionist. Being a family run business, there is good support and mentoring on hand.

Key Responsibilities:
-Ensure guests have an excellent experience when dealing with us, by being personable, having excellent communication skills, and responding to queries in a professional and timely manner
- Manage the reception and reservations, process payments and general administration
-Work with third parties such as suppliers, travel agents and group bookings
-Maintain and develop profitable revenue for the business, including providing regular feedback and solutions on monthly sales targets, costs, debtors, placing orders and tracking inventory

Experience in Motel Management:
-You must both have proven experience as motel managers (minimum 2 year's experience). You will need to provide three references from former employers
-Excellent customer service as well as a sound business mindset
-Must have excellent organisational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Be willing to work as part of a team, as well as taking initiative when reasonably necessary
-Be reliable, with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
-Have sound computing skills, and be able to work with basic programmes
-Ideally have experience with Seekom and OTA Extranet sites
-Have a reasonable level of fitness and the willingness to work weekends, evenings and public holidays

Hello firstly I have now 11 years motel experience between 2 different motels in Te Anau currently we have our Motel listed with Coffey's so not wanting to venture too far away from our Motel to do minding. Minding I am looking at up to 1 week at this stage but also to relieve 1-2 day basis to gain more experience at other Motels. Computer programs currently working with Seekom but used Motel Mate.
I have a great sense of humour so great with staff and guests and have travelled NZ and seem almost all of it so have good knowledge of areas.
If it ok to bring my wee Motel dog Molly with me for company would be great she is a 4 year old Shitzu well behaved growing up in the Motel and loves to meet and greet people with a wagging tail.
Currently due to our Motel lease being on the Market can only do short term minding but once our Lease sells will be able to travel further around NZ is my goal to mind anyway that someone would appreciate my skills.
I have currently 12 Apartments and but also experience with 20 Apartments or together running both gave me 32 Apartments with lots of staff.
I'm keen to learn and have more challenges to come

Our names are Shelagh and Ross Laird, we are based in the North Island. We have had over 16 years working in the Motel, Holiday Park and Tourism industry between us. It is a lifestyle and a job that we enjoy very much, we also enjoy travelling around New Zealand so we decided to combine the two by minding Motels and Holiday Parks while the owners go on much deserved breaks.
So far we have used Seekom, Callista, Aurelian, Strait Reservation, Reservation Master, New Book, Guest point, Motel Mate and Park Mate and many more booking systems, we are very familiar with Kiwi card and Kiwi Parks, we are also very able to learn any other systems.
If required we have our own accommodation being a caravan depending on the motel /park and location.
We normally arrive the day before you leave - first day we arrive and set up, we go over the running of the motel/park with you, day two we are ready to work on our own. When you arrive back, we carry out hand over and discuss anything with you that we need to.
We have a facebook page Rollin Minders NZ. We are both computer literate and we learn systems very quickly. We pride ourselves with good customer service and we also take great pride in the work we do.
